Emerging Technology: Class Project: Dalia & Rachel
A Slide Show Tool
I preferred in this assignment to expand what i have already learned by www.photopeach.com. As art instructor i found that the slides show will be very beneficial with my students. it will open to them many many possibilities to explore ,imagine ,create and then produce new ideas "our students will be required to know how to manage...collect,store,and retrieve relevant information throughout their lives,we need to give them the skills to do so effectively and efficiently"(Will Richardson,P. 131).
I learned about the www.picasa3.com web tool,it is simple easy tool. I install it in just minutes and i was ready to go. I think it is more resourceful than photo peach tool. The good part is there is no charges at all. I simply began with uploading pictures from my computer or from the web ,and then organize it in many different ways. you can choose to make a movie,slide show,collage for all the pictures ,CD . The prefect thing that after i finished uploading, i found many options to send it.i send it to blogger and to my friend on the www.facebook.com , the only difficulty that i faced that when blogging a movie or slide show it convert it to separate plain pictures,so i made my presentation with the www.photopeach.com because it is much easier to embedded to my blog.
Lesson plane:
One of the core subjects in art curriculum are art analysis and criticism. Usually most of the students hate it and there is a fact that the textbooks are huge and boring. Teaching these subjects are a big challenge for both the instructors and the students. I choose one of the Egyptian aeriest that impacted the artistic movement .my aim through this presentation o fulfill two important points,first we will discuss and analyze the works ,second i ll ask them to reflect their inspiration from what they have seen in a new painting project,they can use any material,they can collage some of the artiest work in their paintings,they can express their ideas freely without any restrains. this project normally would take two weeks,the first week will be for the ideas and the sketching parts and the second week will be for the project itself.Later, the they will hang them in the studio,and we will Analise and discuss together all the artworks and what its relevant to the presentation that was given to them.
I thought it would be better to distract the students from the harsh materials with changing the environment of the class. By using the slides show with the most important tagging and a little bit of musical background can fulfill my aim. Through the collaborative work; students will express their ideas ,know much better about each other thoughts,they will be trained to have confidence to express their analyzes&critics in front groups of people which is the most difficult issue in these subjects.

Again, with the use of picese3 and photopeach, a teacher can get to and use these tools quickly and with great skill. What ever pictures are on ones computer, can be used and put to music and text, without looking like PowerPoint! Its hard to find something easy and reliable to use, but these programs are. The use of technology is also something the student's can do, and will probably be familiar with and could use easily. This presentation also adds excitement to a new subject and information being introduced to the classroom.
The goal of these films is to introduce students to new artists and their work. Its done in a exciting and new manner and is easy for the teacher to use and do! As teachers we hope to inspire students to explore and create based on their experiences and things they see and experience.
Role of Technology:
What i liked most about the slides show ,first, it doesn't need many equipments,we just need one laptop,LCD or projector ,and a digital camera ,after the budget cuts from the universities ,it can easily provided. second the equality between all the student,i mean that all the students are exposed to the same technology in the same time withe same equipments ,which is so hard to maintain in most of the time in the school or college level "The best education for the best,he said,is the best education for all"(M.Adler,P. 160).
Active Learning:
It is always deemed to provide my students with a meaningful way of learning.with the interaction in class,the questions that will be raised,the different answers,the discussions that will accompany the presentation,this organic way simply help in the healthy growing of the students characters and minds.
Teachers Role:
The students are depending on the presentation materials that will be offered by the teacher so my role is to collect all the varied material about the presentation and make it relevant to the project i choose for them. However ; most of the work is for me but the students also must be encouraged to prepare something about the lecture,learning with doing is much easier that lecturing them about very complicated subjects in almost two hours,the interaction between the student and the instructor will help them to understand as well as enjoy the whole process.

It is necessary for students to be introduced to thought provoking, creative, and 'safe' artists for their age and grade level. By collecting and screening information on artists, their work and lives creates a safe and controlled environment in the art classroom. The teacher has the whole history of art to choose from to create a curriculum that reflects and works with their students life and current studies or interests.
By giving the students ideas and inspiration, it leads to personal exploration and growth. By combining music, art, and history a teacher can show a student that life is full of influences and inspirations, and everyone uses it, or should use it! The use of tools like photo peach and picese3, and teacher can create a fun and exciting slide show in minutes and include music and picture they have on their computer. A personal point of view about art’s meaning:
I believe that art have a great influence on human. Art helps us to fell and see the beauty around us. that art think art is the most creative tool that humans know through it how to live life in a better way .art was the tool that we can easily communicate through it .we knew about many civilization through art. We knew about different ancient and new cultures though art .even we can know each other better through communicating within art through art we could see new patterns and life we could experiments our feelings towards the surroundings. We could share new ideas, inventions and we could broaden our ability to reevaluate varied issues around us.
Why Teaching arts in schools?
According to John (2008), “Arts can help us break out of traditional patterns of thinking and adopt fresh approaches to intellectual experiences. Discontinuous innovations require novel thinking and breakthroughs in how a particular problem or challenge is approach. I believe the arts offer an expanded tool set for learning and understanding that can enhance creative thinking skills”.
I think art could help students to perform better on both their education and their life. I believe that art could influence students in many different aspects. Art could help them in realizing the importance of beauty in their life. They will learn to think more creatively. Art could also broaden their minds and their vision in dealing with sophisticated life issue better. Art could help them became a better problem solvers. Definitely, we could say that art could strongly affect our students life’s socially, educationally and psychologically.
